Description

There's an archive in Paris with almost four hundred years of drawings of animals, plants, and minerals. It's called the vélins collection, and it has lived at the National Museum of Natural History since King Louis XIII founded the garden in 1626. This book takes those drawings — a diplodocus, a caravan of African animals, stones from the mineralogy gallery — and stands them back up, in paper, page by page. Anne-Florence Lemasson wrote the text that accompanies each scene.
